Haikyuu!! Rarepair
Mini Bang 2021

Welcome to the Haikyuu Rarepair Mini Bang for 2021!!

Rarepairs are an amazing thing in the shipping world. Some of the softest ship I have found are, in fact, rarepairs. Thus the inception of this bang was formed.

Anyone who wants to contribute can! No contributor will be turned away! Just know if you can handle what is asked of you before signing up. This bang offers a lot more time compared to others in order to alleviate some stress that tends to be present in these events.

About: As both an artist and a writer, I hope everyone can enjoy the bang to its fullest! I will work as hard as I can with my fellow mods to keep things going smoothly. Rare pairings lack a lot of attention, and I hope by starting this bang, we can allow the more unpopular ships a little time in the lime-light.

Participant Guidelines!

Writers
※ Writers will be expected to write a story with a minimum of 5000 (five thousand) words by the date they are given. (There is no maximum.)
※ The rarepair they write about must follow the bang's requirements.
※ All pieces must be new and unpublished! We ask that you refrain from talking about it too much on social media (though we do understand it’s hard to keep quiet about exciting things), as the majority of your story should not be publicly shared or discussed.
※ At the moment, NSFW work should be allowed, but in order to write such work, the author must be at least 18 years of age.

·

Artists
※ Artists will select their top 5 summaries (from the writers) through anonymous means. (This means the artists will not know which writer wrote which summary, and the writers will not know which artists want to work on their stories.)
※ Artists will not be restricted to medium (digital, traditional, paint, marker, etc.). As long as the piece is finished before the deadline they are free to choose whatever.
※ At the moment, NSFW works will be allowed. If an artist wishes to work on an NSFW piece they must be 18 years of age or older.
→ When working on art for an NSFW story, the art itself is not required to be NSFW as well. Artists may also turn an NSFW scene into an SFW art piece.
→If the art piece is NSFW, we request the piece posted on social media for us to retweet/reblog be an SFW preview portion. With a separate link to the full work (on a site such as privater, or a personal site).

·

Betas
※ Betas are there for the writers to have someone to proof their work. Proofreading, flow checks, plot holes, or whatever else the writer may want to be checked for their story.
※ Betas can be either available to any writer in need or they can work with specific summaries/writers.
※ We ask that you only check what the writer requests as some writers may not appreciate extra commentary/opinions.
※ If you have extra notes you want to give, ask the writer first if it's okay to share. If it's not okay to, then don't.

·

Pitch-Hitters
※ A pitch-hitter is someone who gets contacted whenever a writer or artist has to drop out of the event for whatever reason. These people will have less time to complete their work.
※ If a writer pitch-hitter is needed, your summary will be shown to the artist who lost their writer. If the artist does not wish to draw for your summary we will move to the next person in line and come back to you next time a writer drops.
※ If an artist pitch-hitter is needed, we will check to see if anything you listed as "no" is in the writer's story first. If it has no issues you have mentioned we will contact you and provide you with the summary, then it will be up to you. If there are elements in the story you said no to, then we will go to the next artist.

Basics
What is a "bang"?
A bang is an event in a fandom that allows for a large drop of fanworks. Collaborations between artists and writers.
Mini bang refers to the word count being lower than what was originally intended for an event like this. (After all, bangs originally started out with a 50,000-word minimum.)
For a bang, writers will sign up and provide a summary (or at least a general concept) for what they plan to write for the bang. Artists will sign up and then later choose from the summaries/concepts given by the writers. Groups will be formed from these responses and the artist will make an artwork to go along with the story of the writer they are grouped with.
Participants contains descriptions for each part of a bang. (Aka pitch-hitter, beta, artists, and writers)

Who will be accepted to produce works in the bang?
Absolutely anyone and everyone can apply and no one will be turned away. This event is non-competitive. No portfolios will be asked for and no requirements will exist. The "applications" are for organization purposes only so we can find and consolidate all the works with ease.

What is considered a rarepair?
For this bang, only pairings with less than 500 stories written on AO3 will be considered a rarepair. A quick search can tell you if the pairing you ship will be considered as a rarepair or not.
Here is a list of pairings already checked. If you cannot find the pairing in the "Non-rarepairs" list you can either go to the linked list of checked and accepted pairings or ask a mod to check for you.
Head Mod Sav is fully willing to check the pairing for you if you need her to!!

Will NSFW be allowed in the bang?
We are fully considering it at the moment! Interest check responses will give us a more definitive answer, but right now the answer is a solid "most likely."
If we do allow NSFW in, you will be required to be at least 18 to work on NSFW content for the bang! And it will be required that it is tagged properly!

Are there any topics that will absolutely not be allowed in?
There must always be some restrictions for things like this.
> No adult/minor relationships.
> No incest. (Miya twins being with the same person does not necessarily count as incest but please check with a mod before using such a pairing.)
> No non-con, dub-con. (For NSFW works)
Right now, these are the only things we definitively are not allowing in.

What about triggering topics? Are they allowed in the bang?
We would like to keep triggering topics to a minimum but are not going to completely cut them out. As long as the stories are properly tagged, and no one in the group for that writer has an issue, then we will be allowing it.
